First off, I want to thank Sophie for nominating me for the Liebster Award! Thanks so much! Sophie is a lovely girl and you should definitely go and check out her blog (she’s also got some great makeup tips for you!). I feel very privileged and thankful for this as it’s also my first ever nomination! So exciting!

Zuallerst möchte ich mich bei Sophie für die Nominierung für den Liebster Award bedanken! Sophie ist eine sehr liebe Bloggerin und ihr solltet ihren Blog auf jeden Fall mal besuchen (sie hat auch ein paar gute Makeup-Tipps für euch!). Ich bin für die Nominierung sehr dankbar, weil das auch meine erste ist! So aufregend!

What inspired you to start a blog?

Was hat dich dazu inspiriert einen Blog zu starten?

I’ve always liked writing, anything really from short stories to sharing my thoughts on social media. I realised though that on platforms like Facebook, for example, there’s not much room for ramblings and stories because everything has to be short, quick and to-the-point for people to read it and even click on “Read more”. So I suppose I’ve created this blog mainly because I want to be able to share my thoughts and experiences, meet new and amazing people and use my love for taking photos by adding them to my posts!

Ich habe das Schreiben immer schon gemocht; alles mögliche angefangen bei Kurzgeschichten bis zum Teilen meiner Gedanken in den Sozialen Medien. Ich habe aber realisiert, dass z.B. die Plattform Facebook nicht wirklich viel Platz für Erzählungen und Geschichten bietet, weil doch alles kurz und prägnant sein muss, damit die Menschen das lesen und in erster Linie überhaupt auf “Weiterlesen” drücken. Also, wahrscheinlich habe ich diesen Blog hauptsächlich deshalb gestartet, da ich meine Gedanken und Erfahrungen teilen wollte, neue Leute kennenlernen wollte und damit ich meine Liebe fürs Fotografieren ausnützen kann und die Fotos in meine Posts einbauen kann!

What’s your proudest achievement/moment so far?

Was ist eine Leistung/Moment, auf die/den du stolz bist?

I think the thing I’m most proud of is that I’ve stuck to my university studies and that I have been doing quite well, too. Although I sometimes tend to be disorganized, I seem to manage pretty well. Another thing that makes me happy is that it has become easier for me to stand in a classroom and not feel as nervous anymore when teaching.

Ich glaube, auf was ich am meisten stolz bin im Moment ist, dass ich weiterhin in meinem Studiengang studiere und es auch gar nicht so schlecht läuft. Obwohl ich manchmal dazu tendiere unorganisiert zu sein, scheine ich ganz gut zurecht zu kommen. Eine andere Sache, die mich glücklich macht, ist, dass es für mich einfacher geworden ist vor der Klasse zu stehen und ich nicht mehr stark nervös bin, wenn ich unterrichten muss.

What’s your dream job?

Was ist dein Traumjob?

This links to the previous question, actually. My dream ever since I was little (although I didn’t think I would actually do it) has always been to become a teacher. Once I got older and discovered my love for languages, especially English, I decided to become an English and Russian teacher.

Das passt ganz gut zur vorherigen Frage. Seit ich klein war (obwohl ich zu der Zeit sicher nicht gedacht habe, dass ich das wirklich machen würde) war es schon immer mein Wunsch eine Lehrerin zu sein. Und als ich älter wurde und meine Liebe zu Sprachen, besonders Englisch, entdeckt habe, entschied ich mich dazu Lehrerin für Englisch und Russisch zu werden.

I’m quite introverted so I prefer to stay in and not go out to bars, clubbing and drinking and stuff like that. Some of my uni friends do that, but I can’t get myself to join them as I just don’t like it that much. I like reading, blogging, watching good films, binge-watching Netflix, sometimes also studying, drinking wine, talking politics, teaching and coming up with fun and interesting teaching activities for students!

Ich bin eher introvertiert, daher mag ich das Ausgehen in Bars, Clubs und so nicht wirklich. Manche meiner Uni Freunde machen das, aber ich schaffe es einfach nicht mich hierbei anzuschließen, weil ich das einfach nicht so mag. Ich mag lesen, bloggen, gute Filme schauen, Netflix süchteln, manchmal auch lernen, Wein trinken, über Politik reden, unterrichten und Ideen für lustige und interessante Unterrichtsaktivitäten für Schüler zu sammeln!

What makes you happy?

Was macht dich glücklich?

I’m happy when I know everyone around me that I love and care about is happy and healthy, when I achieve something I’ve wanted really bad, when I spend time with my family, when I see my boyfriend (long-distance relationship), when I’m able to help people in need and when there’s peace among people rather than hate or discrimination. Oh, and cute babies on the tram – they are the one thing that make you smile and laugh even on a bad day!

Ich bin glücklich, wenn ich weiß, dass es allen um mich herum, die ich liebe und mag, auch gut geht und sie gesund sind. Wenn ich etwas erreiche, dass ich mir sehr gewünscht habe. Wenn ich Zeit mit meiner Familie und meinem Freund verbringe. Wenn ich Menschen in Not helfen kann und wenn zwischen Menschen Frieden statt Hass und Diskriminierung herrscht. Oh, und süße Babies in der Straßenbahn – sie bringen einen sogar an einem schlechten Tag zum Lachen!

Was gefällt dir am Bloggen am meisten?

I love having my own space on the internet where I’m allowed to express my feelings, thoughts and share my experiences with others. Recently, I have also started using Twitter again and I’ve never expected it to be so full of lovely bloggers supporting one another and connecting with each other!

Ich liebe es meinen eigenen Bereich im Internet zu haben, wo mir erlaubt ist, meine Gefühle, Gedanken und meine Erfahrungen auszudrücken und sie mit anderen zu teilen. Außerdem habe ich vor Kurzem entdeckt wie voll von netten Bloggern, die sich gegenseitig unterstützen und miteinander quatschen, Twitter eigentlich ist!

Do you play any musical instruments?

Spielst du ein Instrument?

No, unfortunately not! I couldn’t live without music and I had guitar lessons when I was a kid but I’ve never continued with it and therefore unlearnt playing it which makes me really sad! I’ve also always wanted to learn how to play the piano. Maybe someday?

Nein, leider nicht! Ich kann ohne Musik echt nicht leben und ich hatte auch Gitarreunterricht als ich klein war, aber ich habe nie damit weitergemacht und das Spielen daher verlernt, was ich immer bereut habe! Ich wollte außerdem auch immer schon Klavier spielen. Vielleicht kommt das ja noch irgendwann?

Who’s your idol/inspiration?

Wer ist dein Idol/deine Inspiration?

Apart from my family of course, this is so hard to answer! I have so many. There’s Nelson Mandela, Ghandi, Rosa Parks, Malala, Dalai Lama, John Lennon, Madonna, and so so many more. Especially artists and writers, also contemporary ones, who stood up for something – I guess anyone who stands for equality and peace can be considered my inspiration and idol.

Abgesehen von meiner Familie natürlich, ist das echt schwer zu beantworten! Da gibt es unendlich viele. Ghandi, Nelson Mandela, Rosa Parks, Malala, Dalai Lama, John Lennon, Madonna und so so viele mehr. Besonders Künstler und Schriftsteller – auch gegenwärtige – die sich für etwas eingesetzt haben/einsetzen. Also denke ich, kann man jeden, der für Gleichberechtigung und Frieden eintritt, als meine Inspiration und mein Idol betrachten.

This question is something I just, as much as I would like to, can’t fully answer! I’ve been to so many places and I’m still travelling around and exploring. Maybe ask me in 40 years’ time again? I’m sure I might have a proper answer by then!

Diese Frage ist eine, die ich – beim besten Willen – nicht beantworten kann! Ich war schon an so vielen Orten und reise und entdecke immer noch. Vielleicht fragt mich nochmal in 40 Jahren? Ich bin mir sicher ich hätte dann eine endgültige Antwort darauf!

Pizza, tortillas, Schnitzel (traditional Austrian cuisine), dumplings (Polish) and all kinds of sweet desserts and treats (except liquorice)!
